This is not merely a pretty metaphor, by the way. Despite what you may have been led to believe about the nature of the heart, it is actually an organ of intelligence that is capable of deep thought.

What the heart knows....reminds me of the Jesuit theologian Bernard Lonergan (who was Canadian) and who wrote about how the heart knows first...and the intellect follows. James
